The Essential Best Foods Cookbook
You know that white bagels aren’t a superfood, but with so many reports on this or that fruit’s antioxidant values, how certain indulgences like coffee or chocolate may benefit your brain, and which vegetable seems to have the most cancer-fighting compounds … well, it can get positively overwhelming to shop (or cook) with any of that in mind. Recently I talked with Dana Jacobi, who aims to simplify healthy eating in her new book, The Essential Best Foods Cookbook, a follow-up to her 12 Best Foods Cookbook.
“Having seen so much science on the benefits of particular foods—this in broccoli, that in quinoa—what you don’t tend to get are appealing enough recipes to support eating these foods as much as you could,” she says. This message rings true to us at Delicious Living, of course. The Essential Best Foods Cookbook details how to choose, store, and cook with these super ingredients, and includes mouth-watering recipes, such as Polenta Lasagna with Red Wine Lentils, Pomegranate Tabbouleh, and Chocolate Gingerbread with Lemon Yogurt Frosting.
Here are a few of Jacobi’s essentials. (Hint: This makes a great shopping list!)

Thank you for sharing your fantastic recipes and ideas. I love it. When lentils are called for could you please specify red, green, yellow or orange? I am trying to eat more lentils and my health food store has some many types to choose from. Thanks.
