How many vegetarians/vegans?
Coincidentally on the heels of my last post … Vegetarian Times just sent out news that 3.2 percent of U.S. adults, or 7.3 million people, are vegetarian, and 1 million of those are vegan (0.5 percent). A bunch more people, 10 percent according to VT, “largely follow a vegetarian-inclined diet.” According to our surveys, that’s the DL reader: last time I checked, about 8 percent of our readers say they’re vegetarian or vegan. That’s why we emphasize vegetable-based dishes, but we also include some meat and other animal products (healthy versions, of course!). How does our recipe mix strike you? Would you like to see more of a certain kind of recipe?

We’re both vegetarian, leaning vegan, and appreciate that emphasis. With more and more people going meatless at least part time, you can’t go wrong. Meat eaters have plenty of places to go for recipes.
